Bernard Lietaer is one of
the world’s foremost authorities on international banking,
economics and monetary matters and affiliated with UC at
Berkeley. While with the National Bank of Belgium (The
Belgian Central Bank) he was responsible for the
implementation of the convergence mechanism to the Euro. Mr.
Lietaer is a principal in the European Organization for the
Internationalization of WIR (EOIW) and a partner in the
American Trade Cooperative’s international operations. In
2000 he authored the book “The Future of Money” in which he
described, in detail, the future collapse of the banking and
credit system. The book was translated in 18 languages. In
2008 he followed his book with a white paper in which he
proposed that businesses follow to example of the WIR Bank
in establishing mutual credit systems using complementary
currencies to compensate for the shortages of cash and
scarcity of credit to survive the current economic
conditions. |

University of Nevada Reno effort to enhance economic
